Iron Mash is an on-site homebrew competition hosted each year by the Cap and Hare Homebrew Club. This event takes place on two different days. We host a brewday on a Sunday in October, and a Best of Show/Food & Beer Pairing/Awards Ceremony in late January or early February.
Participants will arrive for brewday not knowing what ingredients they will brew with or what challenges they might face. All they know is that they’ll be tasked with creative challenges, mystery ingredients, and time limits that push their comfort zones.
After brewing is complete, the wort (unfermented beer) is taken home for fermentation and packaging.
Iron Mash 2024 will take place at Three Wide Brewing on Sunday, October 6th. Three Wide is located at: 16230 Three Wide Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76177
Registration for this event will open at 10:00 AM Central on Saturday, August 10th. The entry fee this year will be $80 for a material share. How big a batch will be up to the brewer, based on how they want to work with the ingredients provided.
New for this year! Now that Three Wide is open and a fully equipped venue, breakfast will be catered by Chef Roger Evaristo. Three breakfast passes will be included with each team registration, with the option to add additional tickets at a discount at the time of
purchase. The full kitchen menu will be available for those who want to order lunch.
Registration will be similar to previous years: one option for propane systems and one for 120V electric brew systems. We will be provisionally offering six electric brew system places. This may change, but there will be plenty of power to run pumps and laptops. If you have both propane & electric capabilities, please select the propane option to save the electric places for those with no alternative.
Because of the venue change and the unknowns that goes with that, we are limiting the number of entries to 30 but will be taking a waiting list. If we sell out and find out that we have more available space we will offer the opportunity to enter to those teams on the waiting list in the order that requests are received.
Homebrew will be allowed! But only until 11:00 AM, when Three Wide opens for business. Be sure to stop in, have a pint, and thank them for hosting us this year!
