Brewers may submit a maximum of one (1) single entry in any given month.
Entries must be hand delivered to the Masterbrewer Coordinator (or to a proxy designated by the Masterbrewer Coordinator) at the Cap and Hare monthly meetings.
A completed entry form must be submitted with each entry. Entry forms are available at all Cap & Hare club meetings.
Please fill out the entry forms completely. Be meticulous about noting any special ingredients that must be specified per the 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines. Failure to note such ingredients, carbonation levels, or sweetness may impact the judges’ scoring of your entry.
In order to provide anonymity of brewer’s bottles during the judging, its important they do not contain distinguishing characteristics, therefore we require that all entries meet the following guidelines:
Each entry consists of one glass, 10-oz to 750-ml bottle of homebrewed beer, cider, or mead.
Each bottle has no label (adhesive or painted) or other distinguishing marks.
Bottles with raised glass lettering are discouraged but permitted.
Each bottle is capped with an unmarked silver or gold cap. Other colored caps are discouraged, but permitted.
Use a permanent black marker to obliterate any and all words/letters/numbers on the caps.
Corked bottles meeting the above standards are permitted provided they are capped over or have a cage retaining the cork.
Entry forms should be attached to bottles with a rubber band only; glue and/or tape are unacceptable and will result in disqualification of the entry. The entry may still be judged for feedback at the discretion of the Masterbrewer Coordinator, but it will not be eligible for points or awards.
Masterbrewer is a BJCP sanctioned competition open to any Cap & Hare member age 21 or older. Professional Brewers are permitted to be entrants as long as the entry was not brewed on commercial equipment.
All entries must be handcrafted products, containing ingredients available to the general public, and made using private equipment by hobbyist brewers (i.e., no use of commercial facilities or Brew on Premises operations, supplies, etc.).

The Masterbrewer Coordinator reserve the right to make a final decision about an entry’s eligibility in cases of a dispute.
Brewers may continue to enter additional beers/ciders/meads in any subcategory after he or she is no longer eligible to win points in that subcategory (at the discretion of the Masterbrewer Coordinator), but are not eligible for Masterbrewer points or awards for these additional entries. These beers/ciders/meads will still be blind judged, and the brewers will receive all scoresheets.
Any non-compliant bottles received may be judged (at the discretion of the Masterbrewer Coordinator), but are not eligible for Masterbrewer points or awards. These beers/ciders/meads will still be blind judged, and the brewers will receive all score sheets.
